I think everyone has a brand whether they like it or not... and if you don't actively contribute to it and shape it, your brand is "Just another aspirational tech founder/vc/software developer that isn't that special" b/c that's what you look like on LinkedIn. Do I like it when people fluff up their brand and have nothing behind it... like trying to turn being an accelerator mentor into CNBC appearances that portray you as a "startup investing expert" when the only angel deals you've ever done are 5k slugs into Angel List syndicates? No, I find that annoying personally. :)
