Hell of a run, Charlie. I remember reading your blog in my FeedBurner days, mid-2000s, when I was just learning about VC. And it’s been great to learn from you on Highnote as well! Thank you!

When we lived in New York, you held a startup / investing session on the Upper West Side for a small group of folks. I was lucky enough to be in attendance. You said something that has stuck with me... (paraphrasing)

"My job is to say no. Your job is to convince me otherwise."

Congrats on an awesome career in VC and ad a key contributor to the tech community. Your comment about not being able to celebrate the winners when you’re an early investor resonates a lot. It’s not that founders forget you (although sometimes they do or history is rewritten to favour the more recent investors), but you’re no longer as active in their lives when they win X years after you invest. It is a strange feeling.
